I have a phone line, can I just upgrade this?
Your telephone line will have to be a fixed analogue line, Not pre paid or ISDN, you will still receive a bill from Telkom for the telephone calls you make and your existing voice line rental. SAOL will take care of the ADSL line, and we will bill you according to the chosen package.
I do not have a phone line, what do I need to do?
You will need to apply for a phone line from Telkom first, and then inform us once this is installed and we will then process the upgrade to ADSL for you.
I have a pre-paid/card phone line, what do I need to do?
You will need to apply for the phone line to be upgraded to a normal line from Telkom first, and then inform us once this is installed and we will then process the upgrade to ADSL for you.
I have an ISDN line, what do I need to do?
You will need to apply for the ISDN line to be changed to a normal line from Telkom first, and then inform us once this is installed and we will then process the upgrade to ADSL for you.
I have a switchboard/junction phone line, what do I need to do?
You will need to apply for a separate analogue phone line from Telkom first, and then inform us once this is installed and we will then process the upgrade to ADSL for you.
I have my ADSL line with another ISP; I want to move to SAOL?
No problem, SAOL will transfer that line from the ISP over; you will need to give them notice.
I already have an account with SAOL.com, how can I take advantage of this offer?
Either click the upgrade button above or call our sales team on 086 100 7265 and they will gladly assist you with moving over to one of these packages.
What do I need when I signup?
You will need to send us a copy of your ID, proof of bank account, proof of payment when your line is activated by SAOL.com, and Proof of residence.
I have completed the signup, what happens now?
Our admin staff will keep you updated with the progress of the activation, the installation takes about 21 working days provided there are no Telkom complications.
How long does this take before I can use your services?
Once the line is activated on SAOL, we will activate your services.
From what date will SAOL bill me? Can I choose to be activated on any day?
SAOL will start billing you from the date the ADSL service is activated on SAOL's network. You cannot choose the date you want to be activated, as SAOL will be billed for the line from when it is activated and data is never pro-rated.
How do I pay for this?
You are required to pay via debit order with the 1st month's payment up front.
Can I pay my monthly subscription by Credit Card?
Unfortunately not but you can top up with your credit card online.
Can I pay by EFT?
Yes, but you are required to pay a 6 month subscription deposit up front.
If I have a problem with my line, who deals with Telkom?
SAOL will liaise with Telkom regarding all your ADSL line issues.
How many concurrent logins do I have?
These accounts only allow 1 concurrent login.
Is this shaped? What does this mean for me?
This is a shaped service. The main priority is HTTP followed by FTP, Mail (POP3, SMTP and IMAP), SSH and TELNET. Any protocol not mentioned above will receive a lower priority. Peer-to-Peer (P2P) applications are also not allowed on this service.
Am I in a contract?
No, this is a month to month service, if you want to cancel; you need to give us 1 calendar month notice; this can be e-mailed to info@saol.com .
Who owns the FREE ROUTER?
If you were supplied a router it will belong to you unless you cancel before 24 months, then you will need to return the router. *A free router is only supplied to clients who do not currently have an ADSL connection.
How do I obtain the FREE ROUTER?
If you are in the Durban area you can collect the router from our office in Westville. If you are outside the Durban area, the router can be shipped to you at a cost of R 171.00.
If I only have one phone line, how do I use the phone at the same time as the internet?
You will need a POTS filter, this filters out the noise and static on the line. The filter can purchased from us a cost of R 57.00. You will also require a splitter, this splits the line in two, one to the ADSL router and the other to your telephone.
What happens if I want to cancel this if I am not happy?
You are required to give us 1 calendar month written notice; this can be e-mailed to info@saol.com .
Can I top up if I get capped? What are the Costs?
Yes, you can top up, it is R69.00 per GIG and there is an online facility for this and can also be requested via email to info@saol.com . Payments are requested up front.
