ADSL is a viable alternative to the Standard Dial-Up Connection.

ADSL is ALWAYS connected. 24/7. You do not need to dial-up when you want to connect.
As you do not dial-up when you connect, you do not EVER pay Telkom for a phone call to saol.com
It is a high speed solution. The faster it is - the less time you waste.
ADSL is quickly becoming the most cost effective and efficient Connection in SA.

More to the point, ADSL could save you money. If you spend R560.00 per month on your Dial-Up Internet Connection, (ISP charges plus Telkom call costs to your ISP), you could upgrade to an ADSL Connection for the same price, enriching your Internet experience and saving you both time and money.

Shaped vs Unshaped

International traffic can be 'shaped' in order to prevent bandwidth hungry applications from causing more critical processes to run slowly. For example, someone using a peer-to-peer application such as Kazaa would leave little bandwidth for anyone else wanting to check email or search the web. Shaped packages are recommended for businesses that do not wish for their staff to abuse their Internet connection.

If you do wish to make use of Online Gaming Services or other bandwidth hungry programs it is recommended that you choose our 4GB unshaped package, enabling you to transfer whatever you like, whenever you like, with absolutely no restrictions or limitations. (Sub 300ms pings are attained to US and UK servers on the unshaped network.) We are one of the few providers of unshaped ADSL in South Africa - allowing you to determine how you want to use your bandwidth.

Terms and Conditions of Shaped and Unshaped ADSL Account Packages

ADSL is a best effort service and no guarantees are provided on throughput. ADSL is an access medium to the Internet and will not overcome any bandwidth related constraints within the Internet.
Prices are subject to change. Should Telkom readjust their pricing structure we will be forced to follow suit. Saol.com will however provide notice of any price increases one month in advance.
Any unused Bandwidth (Including any additional bandwidth purchased via the Customer Zone) is not stockpiled, and will be lost at the start of each new month.
All ADSL solutions are offered on a month to month basis with a 30 day notice period.
Accounts are payable monthly in advance.
New clients are required to pay for a full month up front regardless of the date of signup. There is no pro-rata fees offered on ADSL packages.
Over usage: Saol.Com reserves the right to implement charges on any over usage on the clients ADSL account. This is charged at the standard per GIG billing.
N.B If you require your account to be downgraded at anytime, a R200 downgrade fee will be applicable.

Internet usage is limited to S.A sites only.(You are only allowed to browse sites hosted in South Africa.)
You can top up per GIG when you require it with no fuss from the User Zone.
*ADSL Local Only allows 1 concurrent login. Includes 1 mailbox. Only allowed on 384K & 512K line speed.
SAIX ADSL Local Only allows you 4 concurrent logins, so you can share the connection at 3 other locations and only use one username and password.
Mailboxes are not supplied with these accounts but a mail box can be added on for an additional R15.00 per month.

Terms and Conditions of ADSL Local Only Accounts:

Included in the SAIX -ADSL Local Only service :
- All SAIX DNS servers,
- POP3 mail is restricted to locally hosted email servers
- All SAIX local FTP/Mirror Services
Excluded from the SAIX -ADSL Local Only service :
- SMTP - Local only customers will not be able to relay e-mail via any SAIX smtp server (smtp.saix.net). It will be the responsibility of the ISP to provide this functionality for their users.
- POP3 – Local only customers will not be able to connect to POP3 email servers hosted outside of SA (Eg… Gmail.com)
- News Servers - Local only customers will not have access to SAIX's news servers.
- Cache Servers - Local only customers will not be able to use any SAIX Cache (Proxy) servers for web-browsing or streaming.

Pre-Paid ADSL is ADSL Bandwidth (Data Access) purchased as and when you need it.
There are NO monthly costs or contracts.
You can carry over all unused bandwidth indefinitely (eg. you may purchase 1 GIG and use it over 10 months).
You can top up per GIG when you require it with no fuss.
Pre-Paid ADSL allows you 4 concurrent logins, so you can share the connection at 3 other locations and only use one username and password.

Terms and Conditions of ADSL Local Only Accounts:

Payment is required upfront and prior to any bandwidth being released.
Unused bandwidth cannot be reversed or refunded.
SAOL.com does not take any responsibility for any abuse or hijacking of bandwidth.
SAOL.com are able to blacklist unknown ports in cases of abuse or hijacking.
Pre-paid ADSL is subject to SAOL.com's standard terms and conditions.
If your Pre-Paid account is active with 0 gig's for 2 months, the account will be deleted.
